This year we had brave 2 runners in the Chester Marathon, Nick Bartley and Sarah Kennedy-Ratcliffe.
Both Nick and Sarah have put in many hours and many miles of training to prepare for the event in all types of weather to be ready for their challenge.
The Chester Marathon is 42.39 km or 26.34 miles long, the spectacular marathon route is both historic and scenic.
Nick and Sarah left Chester racecourse and headed into the City centre passing the Town Hall, Cathedral, Eastgate Clock, Amphitheatre and through the Roman Walls before heading out of the City across the Old Dee Bridge.
The route then took them out of Chester past the Duke of Westminster’s estate, through Pulford, before crossing the border into Wales and the villages of Lavister and Rossett, before entering the historic village of Holt.
They then crossed the ancient Roman bridge at Farndon to return to England and the home stretch running through Churton, Aldford and Huntington.
On re-entering the City, Nick and Sarah passed the River Dee along the Groves and Castle Drive before a triumphant finish at the racecourse!
Despite the rain and wind Nick made it back to the racecourse in a personal best time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 31 seconds and Sarah completed the course in 5 hours and 34 seconds.
Well Done to both Nick and Sarah.
